Jess is hot on the trail for more wanted killers. While in Corbin, Texas, he meets a woman gunslinger with a deadly right hand. After Jess hears her whole story, including her past life as a pistol competitor and gunslinger in the Northwest Territories of Canada, he decides to help her pursue the men who murdered her husband.
Ruby’s real name is Emma Bouchard, and it seems that Emma can be just as ruthless and deadly as the four men who ruined her peaceful life. Now, with Jess’s help in finding the four men, she will exact her revenge or die trying.
Jess is on the hunt for Griff Euler. Along the way, he meets a man by the name of Mace Lovitt. Unsure if he’s a threat or not, he contacts his friend, Deputy United States Marshal Frank Reedy, to find out.
He learns that Lovitt is a former Texas Ranger on the hunt for the two men who murdered his wife. He helps Lovitt track down the men responsible, but the task isn’t easy. They fled to Mexico after the murder. Jess has to figure out how to make them come back across the border to Texas. He finds a way, but he must risk his life to get it done.
As difficult as that task was, Jess receives a wire from Wildcat, the female bounty hunter out of New Mexico Territory. She has chased a vicious killer all the way from the territory into Texas, but has lost his trail and needs help locating him.
They team up again and go on the hunt for her prey. Wildcat has made some new enemies in Texas, and they’re determined to stop her.
Jess left Ellie Mae back in Reedsville and was now heading to the town of Hampton, Texas, where the next man on his hunt list, Walt Goodell, had last been seen. He keeps thinking about Marsh Prewitt, the strange man he’d met before leaving Reedsville.
While in Hampton, he runs into a beautiful woman by the name of Delilah. She’s an extraordinary singer from the East, who wants to see what the West is like. He also runs into Marsh Prewitt again, the man who says he’s the one who can kill him, yet he never tries.
Soon Jess discovers that Delilah, the daughter of a very wealthy businessman, has been kidnapped by four men and is being held for a large ransom.
Her father, Horatio, disagrees with Jess on how to get his daughter back. Jess decides to go after the outlaws who took her anyway.
Marsh Prewitt keeps showing up wherever Jess goes, and he doesn’t like it. He’s not sure if Prewitt is there to help or hinder him.
Jess is on the hunt for Alex Brayton, when he sees a young woman fleeing from three cowboys she had robbed at gunpoint.
He stops the men from catching her, then heads to Reedsville, where he meets the young woman, Ellie Mae. She turns out to be feisty and reckless and he worries she’ll get herself killed if she keeps going the way she is, so he takes her into his custody.
He soon discovers that three of her pa’s old gang had murdered him while she hid below their cabin. He finds out the gang members went on to rob a bank in the town of Bolten.
He takes Ellie Mae along on the hunt for Brayton and then to track down the three men who killed her pa. He soon regrets his decision, but he’s afraid to leave her on her own.
