Jess is back on the hunt, chasing down the worst of killers and putting them in the ground. The pursuit takes him to Ellington, Texas, in search of Robert Woodson. When he arrives, he discovers that Woodson has already been killed in a gunfight with another wanted man named Steven Rupert.
Jess, hauling the dead body of Woodson behind him, goes on the search for Rupert. When he finds him, he kills him and then proceeds to take both bodies to the marshal of Hayden, Texas, to turn in for the bounties on their heads.
He continues to hunt more wanted men, which eventually takes him to the town of Danford. Here, he accidentally runs into Daniel Brown, a young man with an urgent need. Daniel is trying to send a message to the Texas Rangers and U.S. Marshals, asking for help to save his town, which has been taken over by the ruthless Ruben Clover and his gang of killers.
Jess agrees to accompany Daniel back to Townsend, Texas, to help rid the town of the Clover gang.
When they arrive, Clover and his men are gone, but not for long. They find out that as Clover departed from Townsend, he’d warned the people he was going to get more of his men and return.
Jess helps to prepare the town to fight off the gang, but he quickly learns that the tiny town is populated by religious people who don’t believe in violence and won’t take up guns to protect themselves, leaving only Jess and Daniel to fight off the gang.
When the Clover gang returns, they quickly realize that Jess isn’t a man who likes to lose.
